The biggest technical problem related to using drones indoor and in confined spaces is the risk of collisions. A collision does not only mean a risk of braking propellers but also a risk of bringing the drone into a position where it can no longer fly. Both situations lead to the same tragic end: a crash.
Unlike many drone manufacturers, we did not set to find a solution to sense and avoid obstacles. We rather opted for a solution to be tolerant to collisions. No, they are not. However, this does not prevent Flyability clients to inspect tanks, fluid catalytic crackers, oil cargo tanks, and many other places aiming at storing or processing highly explosive goods. Like for any manned inspection, these environments must be cleaned and inerted prior to being inspected. Flyability products still bring tremendous value to our clients and keep in mind, drones do not breathe so they are very comfortable in nitrogen inerted environments.
